IM UMKREIS DES PARADIESES

AROUND PARADISE unfolds around a settlement of European dropouts attempting to build an esoteric, conspiratorial utopia in Paraguay’s poorest region. Told through the eyes of two young Paraguayan, the film traces the community’s ambitious goals, frictions and the enduring echoes of colonialism.

Yulia Lokshina’s previous feature documentaries are ACTIVE VOCABULARY (2025) and RULES OF THE ASSEMBLY LINE, AT HIGH SPEED, her graduation film from HFF München, which won the Best Documentary Award at the Max Ophüls Preis Film Festival in 2020.
